Hendersonville, NC is still in a drought, despite the fact that we have had several days of rain lately. I don't know about you, but my yard is pretty brown and all of the landscaping I have put in the last few years is looking pretty bad. I am on a well out in the country, but I am still following the rules the city has imposed. I know that a well can just as easily go dry out here.
I have decided to not water my lawn or gardens (other than a few tomato plants that are producing well) so I decided to rig up a water catchment system. I took an old trash can that I don't use and attached a faucet and nut to the base so that I can run a hose out of it. This will be an experiment to see if a plastic trash can can hold up. If this works I may try a few metal cans. I have gutters everywhere and would like to just keep my flowers alive since I have invested a lot of money in them.
If this system works I will post pictures of it and let you know how I hooked it up. In the meantime I am waiting patiently for enough rain to fill it so I can give it a try.
Have you tried anything that works? If so, please feel free to write me. I would love to hear about it.
